Event Description

The AIChE NL/B section provide several opportunities throughout the year to meet peers and discuss topical items of the industry. For this we organize three different types of events: Lecture Dinner Meetings, Company Visits and an annual Colloquium. Typically, between 10 and 14 monthly scheduled events are organized during a season. The program is put together annually by two Subcommittees, one for Belgium and one for The Netherlands. The committees aim at constructing a balanced set of events which should be of interest for engineers, managers, scientists and students who are actively involved in the areas of chemical engineering. The events are open for anyone who is interested providing that he or she registers for participation. Participation is not free of charge but the participation fees are kept on a moderate level. Upon participation one receives an invoice. A season of AIChE starts at September and ends in June. The closing event of the season is the annual

Lecture Dinner Meetings (LDM):

the program of a typical LDM starts at 5.30 p.m. with a cocktail drink, followed at 6.30 p.m. by a lecture of one hour. At 7.30 p.m. the dinner of three courses is served which is concluded with a cup of coffee or tea. The subject of the lecture varies a lot and might deal with a specific project, a safety issue, a typical chemical subject or a new technology. The presenter is given a great deal of freedom as long as he or she complies with three important requirements. One is that the subject should be related to chemical engineering and technology in their industrial context, the second requirement is that no sales pitch is presented and the last one is that the presenter should be prepared to address questions from the audience.

Company Visits (CV):

the program of a CV begins with an introduction by the host company followed by a visit to the production facilities of the host. Afterwards, during cocktails and subsequent dinner the participants are given ample opportunity to network. The time frame of a company visit is roughly set between 4.00 and 9.00 p.m. as said before, the annual colloquium is last event of the season. Held in June, well before the summer holiday period, a general theme is discussed during a one day event. Highly ranked speakers from different origin share their insights about an industrially relevant theme with the audience. Participants are discussing the lectures with each other and the speakers at length. The Colloquium is organized in the pleasant setting of the Kurhaus Hotel in Scheveningen and provides ample opportunity to strengthen old relations and meet new peers of the industry. The wide view over the Channel guarantees an inspiring day.
